Dear List members,
I have provided to delete the updmap.log and I issues the command said above>

This is the log file from the terminal:

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Users\gavinpc>updmap-sys --enable Map mdsymbol.map
c:/texlive/2011/texmf/scripts/tetex/updmap.pl: Ignoring unexpected non-option ar
gument(s): mdsymbol.map.
Config file: "C:/texlive/2011/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg"
C:/texlive/2011/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg unchanged. Map files not recreate
c:/texlive/2011/texmf/scripts/tetex/updmap.pl: Updating ls-R files.

The updmap.log however has not been created in web2c folder.

I have to say however, that I issued the same command (updmap-sys
--enable Map mdsymbol.map) last night, to restore the the file, and it
ended up the process without problems. The updmap.log file I have
cancelled was the one of last night.

If it is now normal not having it, possibly until the next tlmgr
command and subsequent update, we can consider the case as terminated,
keeping you updated if the problem reappears.
