I was just going to reply the same that I don't see how the kern worked
before at all.
In the new format you can simply use


No need for the  LenToUnit  so something like

30pt},\LenToUnit{-\cvprruleroffset}){%right ruler
        \put(\textwidth+30pt,-\cvprruleroffset){%right ruler

although the old version with \textwidth\kern 30pt can't really be doing
anything sensible.
